Here is a closer look at what the Dexcom G7 app does once it is paired with your G7 sensor.
Real-time glucose readings
The sensor measures glucose in interstitial fluid and pushes a new value to the app every 5 minutes — 288 readings a day. The home screen shows your current number, a trend arrow, and a scrolling graph of the last 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours.
Customizable alerts
Set your own high and low thresholds, rise/fall rate alerts, and quiet profiles by time of day. The signature Urgent Low Soon alert predicts a severe low up to 20 minutes before it happens, giving you time to act.
Sharing and Follow
Share live data with up to 10 followers — parents, partners, caregivers — through the free Dexcom Follow app. Followers see readings and trends and can set their own alert thresholds.
Smartwatch support
The G7 can connect directly to a compatible Apple Watch, independent of your iPhone. Android users can view readings on supported Wear OS watches via the app.
Reports and history
Dexcom Clarity integration provides time-in-range percentages, a 7-day glucose management indicator (GMI), and downloadable reports for appointments. In the History tab you can log meals, insulin doses, activity and notes alongside your glucose curve.
Health ecosystem integrations
Digital health integrations let you send glucose data to compatible third-party apps and devices, from insulin pens to fitness platforms.
Feature availability can vary by region and device. See the official listing on the App Store or Google Play for details.
